All proceeds will support the work of Urban Word, which serves over 25,000 teens annually in NYC and through the National Youth Poet Laureate Program, providing platforms for critical literacy, youth development and leadership, and college prep and performance opportunities. 

Past honorees have included Sonia Sanchez, Aja Monet, Yandy Smith-Harris, Toshi Reagon, Nicole Sealey, Dr. Bobbi Peterson, Cheryl Boyce-Taylor, Jamila Woods, and more. While Black Girl Magic celebrates the Black women in our various communities, the guests lists is filled with tastemakers as well as celebrities such as Padma Lashiki (BRAVO Top Chef), Indya Moore (FX Pose), Danielle Young (Digital Creator/ Host), Tiffany D. Jackson (NY Times Bestselling Author), Tracy Garraud (Sway in the Morning Co-Host), Martina McFly (DJ/ Nike model), Madison McFerrin (You + I EP), and more.

 

The BLACK GIRL MAGIC FELLOWSHIP Program is a series for NYC/NJ-based girls and non-binary youth ages 13-19 centered on their development as writers, building their self-esteem, and addressing issues that matter most to them. Curated by Mahogany L. Browne.
